Air-India MD Mascrenhas suspended

Michael P Mascrenhas Air-India managing director Michael P Mascrenhas was suspended on Wednesday in the wake of some critical comments made by the Comptroller and Auditor General of India in a recent report against the A-I chief.

The company's deputy managing director J N Gogoi has been asked to officiate till further orders, sources said.

The CAG report had disclosed that Air-India had shown 'undue favour' to a general sales agent in London, Welcome Travels, to the tune of Rs 570.2 million from 1987 to 2000 as performance-linked incentives.
