Daewoo, Hyundai take cue from MUL, to hike prices

Daewoo Motors India and Hyundai Motor India will increase prices of their vehicles, following Maruti Udyog Ltd hiking prices up to 1.5 per cent.

DMIL is increasing the price of its small car -- Matiz -- by Rs 5,000 to Rs 7,000 from June 1. HMIL is reviewing the prices of its cars Santro and Accent. "We will announce an increase very soon," an HMIL spokesperson said.

DMIL is increasing the prices of Cielo and Nexia by Rs 10,000 to Rs 13,000. "The exact price hike has not been worked out," a DMIL spokesperson said.

MUL, on the other hand, has followed DMIL and HMIL on the warranty front. The market leader has also extended the warranty on all its cars from one year to two years. The warrant is now applicable on all new cars for two years or 40,000 km, whichever is earlier.

Yesterday, MUL increased the prices of all its models, barring Zen Diesel. While the price of Maruti 800 Standard was increased by Rs 5,501 (to Rs 2,14,164, ex-showroom Delhi), the prices of Alto LX and Alto VX have gone up buy Rs 4,001. Alto LX now costs Rs 2,94,151 and Alto VX Rs 3,56,091.

The price of Wagon R LXI has been increased by Rs 1,524 (to Rs 3,27,415), while Wagon LXI and VXI will now cost Rs 3,048 and Rs 3,810 more. The two models are now priced at Rs 3,53,717 and Rs 3,74,925. Esteem LX now costs Rs 5,133 more (at Rs 4,84,686). The prices of Zen VX and VXI have gone up by Rs 5,001 to Rs 3,72,513 and Rs 3,98,457, respectively. Zen LX now costs Rs 5,501 more at 3,34,151.

Prices of Gypsy King's soft top and hard top variants have been hiked by Rs 5,002. The soft top variant now costs Rs 4,69,130 while the hard top now costs Rs 4,89,737.

The price of Omni Flat five-seater has been increased by Rs 4,268 (new price Rs 2,21,523) while Omni Flat eight-seater now costs Rs 762 more (at Rs 2,23,657). All prices mentioned above are ex-showroom, Delhi prices.
