Small investors' confidence in bourses a must: Sinha

Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha said on Friday that the Securities and Exchange Board of India was looking into ways of strengthening the confidence of small investors in the stock market.

"The recent stock market crash has deeply affected the mindset of the small investors after their buoyancy earlier when the stock market was booming," Sinha said.

Sinha said the Indian stock market required the international best practices and the market regulator was looking into such aspects.

Sinha said the investors needed to study the stock market situation and that they might find mutual funds a safer method of investment.
