Morepen Lab files for three patents

Drug firm Morepen Laboratories Ltd has filed for three patents, including two international patents, a financial daily said on Wednesday.

Two of these patents were process patents and were in the dermatology and antibiotic segments, the economic daily said.

The company's net profit in the year ended March jumped 44 per cent to Rs 732.50 million ($15.65 million) on sales that rose 32 per cent to Rs 4.38 billion.

Morepen also planned to purchase brands to keep its market share in the post patent period, the paper quoted Morepen's vice president Atul Gandotra, as saying.
