HP, Intel announces strategic alliance

Hewlett-Packard Company and Intel Corporation has announced a strategic alliance to deliver the broadest range of server appliances in the industry in India. HP is now shipping 21 HP branded server appliance products designed to meet the needs of the new economy businesses ranging from Enterprise Service Providers to small and medium sized businesses.

The new range of server appliances has distinctive functionality ranging from web-hosting to web caching, streaming-media caching, traffic management and virtual private networking.

According to international data corporation, the appliance serve marketplace worldwide is poised to see tremendous growth and is expected to reach $25 billion by 2004. HP holds a 13.5 per cent market share in the server market in India. The launch of its server appliances extends HP's comprehensive server offerings, enhances customer choice to consolidate its position further.
