Honda Siel tops JD sales ranking

BS Corporate Bureau

Honda Siel (City) has beaten Hindustan Motor/ Mitsubishi (Lancer) to clinch the highest ranking in sales satisfaction, according to JD Power Asia Pacific 2001 India sales satisfaction index study released on Friday.

Registering a SSI score of 109 with above industry average performance on all factors except price evaluation, Honda Siel has ranked the highest in sales satisfaction.

The study examines customer satisfaction with the vehicle sale and delivery process at one to six months of ownership. HM/ Mitsubishi ended up second in the SSI ranking with a score of 108, with Ford close behind at 107.

The SSI study further ranked Mahindra & Mahindra at the fourth slot with a score of 106, followed by Maruti Udyog and Hyundai at 103 points, respectively, a score that also marked the industry average.

The release has quoted Chris Bonsi, director, JD Power Asia Pacific, as saying that trends for the Indian automotive industry in terms of sales satisfaction were positive.

"Performance has improved for five out of the six factors that customers say influence their sale experience," he said. According to Bonsi, Honda Siel had been able to leverage salesperson strengths to record industry-leading scores on sales experience and salesperson knowledge.
