Dresdner Capital launches Indian operationsDresdner Kleinwort Capital on Thursday announced the launch of its private equity operations and the appointment of Jay Jayachander as new head of its operations. Jay has considerable experience in the private equity industry. Prior to joining Dresdner Kleinwort Capital, Jay was managing director and CEO of ICICI Venture Funds Management Company in India. At Dresdner Kleinwort Capital, he will lead a core team of four professionals with extensive experience in the Indian venture capital/private equity industry. The core team includes three of Jay's former colleague at ICICI Venture, Nitin Deshmukh, Sampath Ranganathan and N Subramanian. Together the team has been involved in over 80 successful investments and over 30 profitable exits in India and abroad. Dresdner Kleinwort Capital's new Indian team would be based in Bangalore and would focus on early-mid stage venture capital, covering telecommunications, software, life science and media/entertainment investment opportunities. They would work closely with Dresdner Kleinwort Capital's other technology-focused teams in the Asia-Pacific region including Japan, Singapore and Hong Kong. They would also be part of Dresdner Kleinwort Capital's global network of nearly 200 employees operating in 14 locations which includes LBO, technology-related, media and life science teams based in Europe and the US. Dresdner Kleinwort Capital has euro 4.48bn funds under direct and co-advisory management and raises third party capital as well as using funds provided by the Dresdner Bank Group. |
