Alcatel to build next generation network for VSNLAlcatel has won a multi-million dollar contract to set up a new network that will facilitate the implementation of fixed line voice and data services by Videsh Sanchar Nigam Limited. VSNL will deploy the Alcatel 7470 Multiservice Platform, part of a family of broadband switching products. The project will be completed within the next six months. ''This is the first multi-service ATM infrastructure network to be installed by Alcatel in India. We look forward to more such contracts in the near future,'' commented Michel Vetil, managing director, Alcatel India. Alcatel builds next generation networks, delivering integrated end-to-end voice and data networking solutions to established and new carriers, as well as enterprises and consumers worldwide.
