PNC to set up entertainment-cum-fitness chain

Raksha Hegde & Savio G Pinto

Pritish Nandy Communications will be setting up a chain of entertainment-cum-fitness centres. Christened 'Moksh', these centres will be set up in India, New York, London and Dubai.

The 'Moksh' project, initiated at a cost of Rs 75 million, will offer state-of-the-art facilities. A Moksh centre will house a gymnasium, an aerobics facility called 'Studio X', a spa and a cardio-theatre.

The entertainment company plans to offer elite services like holistic and advisory treatments in the form of a mind spa called 'Karma' as well as oxygen bars called 'O2'.

These centres will also function as studios for television software production.

A senior official at Pritish Nandy Communications said, "We want to provide content on every platform and are strategising on combining our abilities in television content with our entertainment services."

On these lines, Pritish Nandy Communications is looking at producing a television series for the morning time-band, using the fitness centres as its studios.

The company's earlier plans to combine its television and entertainment centres had come a cropper. Earlier, Pritish Nandy Communications had its fingers in the entertainment centres pie through a stake in "The Bowling Company"", a Bombay-based entertainment multiplex which it sold back to the promoters. The company expects to break even in this venture in about two years.

Meanwhile, the company has embarked on a global talent search for film directors in partnership with well known film personality Mahesh Bhatt. The search will be restricted to first time directors who are willing to make small budget movies with a good script.
