MRO-TEK expands production capacity by 50 per cent

MRO-TEK Ltd, the networking and last mile access solutions company, has launched its third manufacturing facility in the Electronics City on the outskirts of Bangalore to expand its production capacity by 50 per cent and save costs by 20 per cent.

The Rs 10-million state-of-the-art facility has a capacity to manufacture 1,000 units of 64kb or 2mb modems per day. According to managing director H Nandi, the new facility will enable the company to add more products to its line, besides rolling out line drivers, HDSL modems, NT-1's and converters.

For the fiscal year 2000-01, MRO-TEK clocked a turnover of Rs 1.24 billion with manufacturing contributing Rs 450 million, and the rest coming from value-added traded goods.

MRO-TEK became the first net access and networking solutions company to be listed on the BSE, NSE, after it went public October last to raise Rs 238 million.
