Unimobile to provide mobile services to Singapore Airlines

Fakir Chand in Bangalore

Unimobile Inc, the Bangalore-based leading provider of global wireless data solutions for enterprises, will provide mobile flight alert services to passengers of Singapore Airlines around the world, using its wireless messaging platform.

Using Unimobile's global messaging technology, Singapore Airlines will be the first airline to extend wireless alert services to customers outside its home base region as part of its worldwide mobile services strategy.

Unimobile worked with Singapore Airlines to design the flight alert services, which will be available to the airlines customers in over 30 countries, including the US.

Besides Unimobile's mobile messaging platform, the airlines will use Unimobile intelligent network to enable real-time delivery of customer-selected alerts and notifications to customers' mobile devices.

"The airline industry is all about mobility. Singapore Airlines is a global airline with customers around the world who are always on the move," said airlines senior vice-president for products and services Yap Kim Wah, in a statement here on Wednesday.

According to Unimobile chief executive officer Vasudev Bhandarkar, this first of its kind global messaging solution exemplifies the importance SIA places on offering its customers forward thinking services and demonstrates the power and flexibility our platform offers global organisations.

"SIA customers can select to receive alerts for up to three flights, and also choose one or more of multiple alerts offered. Customers can also select the times and time intervals at which they wish to receive alerts. For instance, passengers could choose to receive an alert three hours before a flight departure, and at intervals of one hour until departure.

The Unimobile MMP also offers message tracking and message delivery confirmation modules, which allow administrators to track the message path, message status, and delivery details.

Advanced monitoring tools allow administrators to generate reports on specific services opted for and messages delivered to each user, to facilitate analysis of each service offering.

As one of the world's leading airlines, and together with its wholly owned regional carrier SilkAir, SIA flies to over 90 destinations in 40 countries. SIA is a member of Star Alliance.

Unimobile has five years experience building solutions that eliminate the complexity of communicating with employees, customers or partners using wireless technologies.

Its solutions have been validated across 500 carriers globally with more than one million users in 130 countries.
