Pritish Nandy Comm to foray into event management

Anusha Subramanian & Prachi Verma

Pritish Nandy Communications, the media company promoted by Rajya Sabha member Pritish Nandy, is aiming to consolidate its position in the content segment and diversify into event management.

In this regard the company has already begun its initial stages of talks with production companies abroad who are already producing for networks in US and Europe. PNC is targeting the terrestrial television networks in France, UK, US and Germany. PNC is also keen to form joint ventures with global media and entertainment companies for new ventures.

"Traditionally, PNC has been a content provider for television. But now we are diversifying into films productions and organising domestic and international events," George Darley-Doran, chief operating officer, PNC told Business Standard, adding the company intends to invest about Rs 250 million in new projects.

According to him, "Content is a very prime asset and we want to build ourselves in this area. We want to tap the global markets with good quality content. We will be doing this in co-production with foreign production houses. It works better as a co-production deal as the international co-producers know the market better and are capable of packaging the product well for those markets."
