Bajaj Auto, Kawasaki in supply deal

India's largest two-wheeler maker Bajaj Auto Ltd has entered into an agreement with Japan's Kawasaki Heavy Industries for supplying motorcycle components, an English daily said on Thursday.

It quoted Bajaj Auto president Rajiv Bajaj as saying Kawasaki wanted to exploit the cost advantage in India to gain an upper hand in terms of pricing with its competitors in the global market.

Bajaj Auto currently makes motorcycles in India using technology from Kawakasi.

"We want to assist Kawasaki in being more competitive worldwide by leveraging the lesser cost from India through our supplier network," Bajaj was quoted as saying.

He said the initial proposal had already been signed to supply 30 components.
