BroadVision to set up India subsidiarySoftware maker BroadVision Inc said on Thursday it plans to set up a wholly owned subsidiary in India to enhance its presence in the country. BroadVision, which makes software for e-commerce transactions, has been catering to the Indian market through local partners including Tata Consulting Services, HCL Infosystems and Satyam Infoway for the past year. "The potential in the Indian e-market place has inspired us to strengthen our Indian operations, and the formation of an Indian subsidiary is a step in that direction," Ankit Monga, BroadVision's director of Indian operations, said in a statement. BroadVision plans to set up a development centre in India, besides outsourcing software through other vendors, the statement said. The India plans come as BroadVision struggles to counter the effects of the technology slowdown. BroadVision said earlier this month it had cut nearly a third of its workforce since March 31 and warned of a wider-than-expected second-quarter loss.
