Mukta Yaadein local rights nets Rs 84.4 million

Indian movie production firm Mukta Arts Ltd has contracted domestic theatre rights for its upcoming film Yaadein for Rs 84.4 million, the Bombay Stock Exchange said on Wednesday.

The rights for the film have been given to several distributors across the country, excluding Bombay where it will be distributed by a division of Mukta Arts, it said.

The film is scheduled to be released on July 27.

Overseas distribution rights were sold recently to Tips Industries for an undisclosed amount, but industry sources estimated it to be $3.5-4.5 million.

Domestic music rights for the film were also sold to Tips, for Rs 6.5 million - the highest ever amount for a Bollywood film.

Tips forked out an additional $350,000 for the overseas music rights.

Shares of Mukta Arts, founded by blockbuster film maker Subhash Ghai, were 1.67 per cent down at Rs 149.45 in afternoon trade at the BSE, while the Sensex was down 0.63 per cent.
