Revive the capital markets: Ficci

The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry on Monday said that the revival of US-64 depends on the reversal of the downward trend in the capital markets.

Welcoming Unit Trust of India's decision to revive the repurchase of units for small investors who held units in the US-64, Ficci said the fall of the scheme was the result of the fall in the capital markets.

Ficci said that it strongly felt that reintroduction of the traditional carry forward mechanism could probably help lift the sentiments of the secondary market to a large extent.

It also suggested weekly declaration of net asset values for US-64 to make the scheme more transparent and investor friendly.
