Penegra to be available in pink; Cipla, Yogi file reply tooAfter the Indian pharmaceutical giant Cadila Healthcare was allowed to manufacture and sell male anti-impotence drug Penegra by the Delhi high court on the condition that the colour of the drug will be changed as it resembled that of Viagra of American company Pfizer, Cadila informed the court that the order has been complied with. Cadila's counsel P Chidambaram told Justice A K Sikri that the company has changed the colour of Penegra from blue to pink to market its product. A division bench on June 30 had allowed Cadila to manufacture and sell Penegra subject to an undertaking by the Indian firm to change the colour of its drug to make it appear different from Pfizer's wonder drug Viagra. Pfizer's counsel C M Lall had complained that Cadila had copied its drug and Penegra was "deceptively similar to that of Viagra in shape and colour". Further hearing on the matter was deferred as Lall informed the court that the US multinational has filed an appeal in the Supreme Court against the order of high court allowing Cadila to manufacture and sell Penegra. Meanwhile, two other Indian companies, Cipla Ltd and Yogi Herboclub, who were issued notice on the allegation by Pfizer that they were also manufacturing and selling anti-impotency drug by copying the formula and using deceptively similar name and identical colour, filed their reply in the court. Pfizer had alleged that Cipla was passing off its drug Silagra as its Viagra by copying the shape and colour of the tablet. Yogi Herboclub was also accused of passing off its product Indiagra by adopting features identical to that of Viagra. YOU MAY ALSO WANT TO READ:
