Pak may grant MFN status to IndiaPakistan may grant the most favoured nation status to India during the summit talks between Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, commerce ministry officials in New Delhi said. Trade-related issues would be the most important agenda after Kashmir in the Vajpayee-Musharraf summit to be held at Agra on July 15, they said The ministry has prepared a comprehensive summary covering all aspects on bilateral trade including grant of MFN status to India if summit leaders decide to discuss them, the officials said. India has already extended MFN status to Pakistan. The ministry of foreign affairs has reportedly provided the guidelines for the preparation of the summary. The commerce ministry officials were, however, waiting for the details of the trade concessions announced by Vajpayee recently which included reduction of tariff on 50 items which India would import from Pakistan. Pakistan may respond to the Indian gesture in its the import policy which Islamabad was expected to announce sometime later this month. Meanwhile, Pakistan's Finance Minister Shaukat Aziz had hinted that the Musharraf-Vajpayee Summit would pave the way for promotion of bilateral cooperation between the two countries. In a recent interview he had said Kashmir was the core issue between the two countries and any progress in resolving this issue would ease the tension in the region. UNI YOU MAY ALSO WANT TO READ:
