Asia's first exhibition on Green technologies opens in Hyderabad

Asia's first international exhibition on Green Buildings opened in Hyderabad on Thursday.

Inaugurating the exhibition, Minister for Major Industry K Vidyadhar Rao said that the Andhra Pradesh government was committed to achieve economic growth of nine to 10- percent per year but the state would do so in an energy-efficient and environmentally friendly manner.

"With the ultimate objective of becoming a clean and green state, this initiative will unfold tremendous business opportunities in the state," the minister said and invited the companies engaged in green technologies to utilise the opportunities and set up their units in the Green Park proposed by the state government.

The four-day exhibition, which is open till September 2, has been organised as part of the Green Building Congress-2001 by the Confederation of Indian Industry jointly with the state government with the technical support of USAID.

R Parasuraman, chairman, Green Building Congress 2001, said that over 30 exhibitors covering the entire spectrum of Green building equipment and services were showcasing their products and concepts in the exhibition.

The exhibitors include manufacturers and suppliers of energy efficient equipment and systems, building automation systems, eco-friendly building materials and technology, recycled products, energy efficient HVAC systems, energy efficient lighting systems and office equipment systems.

The lead participants include ABB, Control Techniques, L&T ECC, Hitachi, National, Novar PLC, Shapoorji Pallonji, Enercon Systems, Shri Shakti Alternative Energy, Grundfos, Linear Technologies, Godrej & Boyce, Premier Solar, Nexant, Rajco Metal, besides USAID and AP government.
