Work suspended at Dunlop's Sahaganj factory

Operations at Dunlop India Ltd's Sahajganj factory in West Bengal has been suspended again since Sunday night by its management, Dunlop union sources said on Monday.

The company, which stopped production since January 2001 after reopening in April 2000, employed nearly 4500 workers, the sources said adding no payment of salaries or wages were made to the employees or workers in the current year.

The company, which has been referred to the BIFR, is still awaiting sanction of the Draft Rehabilitation Scheme for its revival.

Company owner M R Chhabria has reinstated managing director of Falcon Tyres T C Goel as the new president of Dunlop in place of M D Shukla.
