Abducted Calcutta businessman returns home

J Saagar in Calcutta

The abducted owner of a footwear company, Partha Pratim Roy Burman, returned to his Salt Lake residence at 3.40 pm on Thursday after nine days of captivity.

DIG (PR) Goutam Chakraborty said that Roy Burman came back to his residence in a taxi and was immediately rushed to a private nursing home in the metropolis.

"Roy Burman came back to his residence on his own and his family members took him to a private nursing home," he said.

Roy Burman's sister Jayashree confirmed that the owner of Khadim's had returned home safely.

Details of whether any ransom was paid for his release by his captors, who abducted him on July 25 while he was driving to one of the company warehouses in Tiljala area, were not immediately known.
