India's consumer price inflation 2.53 per cent in March

India's year-on-year inflation measured by the consumer price index for industrial workers was 2.53 per cent in March compared with 3.02 per cent in February.

The CPI for industrial workers was 4.83 per cent in March 2000, a government statement said.

The statement said the All India Consumer Price Index Number for industrial workers for March 2001 (base 1982-100) had risen by two points to 445 points. The index during the corresponding period last year rose by four points.
