India to receive $5.2 billion ADB loan in the next 4 years

India will receive $5.2 billion dollar loan from the Asian Development Bank in the next four years including $1.6 billion during 2001 for power and other infrastructure sectors.

India would continue to be the largest beneficiary of the ADB loans and this was decided at the conclusion of the two weeks of deliberations of the country programme on Monday, Klaus Gerhaeusser, a senior ADB official, told reporters in New Delhi.

The meeting was held with senior officials of Finance Ministry, allied ministries and executing agencies, besides the business community, he said.

Besides a sum of $500 million for the quake affected Gujarat, a sum of between $300 and $350 million would be given for Madhya Pradesh power sector, $300 million for private sector, $240 million for the western corridor of prime minister's ambitious highway project and $210 million for West Bengal's Metro Rail Project this year, he said.
