The Best Countries To Study MBBS

Dr Pananjay Tiwari, director, Impel Overseas Education, lists the top nations for students wishing to pursue a medical education outside India.
An MBBS degree costs approximately Rs 1.5 lakhs annually in government colleges in India; at AIIMS, depending on the location, it costs anywhere between Rs 6,075 to Rs  51,520 per year.
The cost of a private MBBS degree is significantly higher.

1. USA

Medical schools in America prioritise hands-on research-based education while providing students with state-of-the-art facilities and access to cutting-edge medical technology.

Tuition cost 

$40,000-$70,000 (approximately Rs 33.60 lakhs-Rs 58.81 lakhs) annually.

2. The United Kingdom

There is a great deal of clinical experience, a heavy focus on patient care and a demanding curriculum in medical schools in the UK.

Tuition cost

25,000-40,000 pounds (approximately Rs 23 lakhs-Rs 37 lakhs) annually.

3. Germany

The inexpensive/non-existent tuition prices at public universities in Germany, along with the country's generally high standard of education, are major draws for Indian students interested in a medical education.

Tuition costs

Public universities charge a nominal semester fee between 100-500 euros (Rs 9,000-Rs 45,000 approximately). Private universities will cost 26,000 euros or more (Rs 3 lakh approximately).

4. The Russian Federation

The low tuition rates and abundance of English language medical schools makes Russia a student-friendly destination.

$3,000-$6,000 (approximately Rs 2.5 lakhs-Rs 5 lakhs) annually.

5. China

The low living costs and the remarkable growth of its universities over the past decade has put China on the list of budget-friendly nations for an MBBS educaton.

6. Ukraine

Reasonably priced medical degrees taught in English and a well structured medical curriculum with a strong emphasis on practical training attracts Indian students to Ukraine every year.

$4,000-$8,000 (approximately Rs 3.36 lakhs-Rs 6.72 lakhs) annually.

7. Philippines

The country's low tuition rates, growing presence of native English speakers and student-friendly curriculum is beneficial for Indian students.
