From virgin white to sensual colour: Anamika Khanna

Last updated on: September 19, 2009

Anamika Khanna's collection on Day Two of Lakme Fashion Week saw loungy, see-through creations of lazing beauty. The designer's inspiration was a dressed-down, gypsy girl who nevertheless "appreciates craft and heritage".

Wide-leg pyjamas, ganjis and sheer skirts sailed down the runway one after another in quick succession.

Seen here is a light shift with embroidery and a tucked hemline.

Bare that belly

Model Surelee Joseph shows off her flat tummy in a short choli, coated with a rich zardosi jacket.

Doing things by halves

Candice Pinto struts her stuff in half a sari, draped over pyjamas and showing off a heavy pallav -- doesn't look as odd as it sounds, does it?

Mini magic

If you've got the gams for it, this thigh-skimming mini will create magic for you. The smocked see-through cape adds a nice touch.

Urban elan

Look sophisticated yet traditional in this gorgeous zardosi skirt, teamed with a careless dip-dye blouse.

An eye for detail

This sleeveless embroidered cutwork kurta took everyone's breath away with its exquisite look.

Waistcoat wanderer

Khanna continues with the zardosi trend, this time with a waistcoat that jazzes up her preference for pristine white.

Let it hang

None of the designer's outfits were clingy or form-fitting -- the emphasis, as is apparent from this dress, was on languid beauty.

Sexy black

Black chiffon see-through pyjamas with strategic slits on the leg raise a few eyebrows.

Flash of orange

One-sided and flowing, a flash of orange lights up this wrap.

Accessory overload

Statement accessories are ideal for outfits like this one -- the fancy long neckpiece is the centre of attention.

Golden gal

Intricate cutwork adorning the hem, a voluminous gold skirt steals onto the runway, teamed with nothing but a black cotton wrap.

Citrus dose

Crushed muslin saris in citrus tones then make their way out...

Earthy angle

Followed by another batch of the same, this time in deep earthy tones.

A gigantic palette

Surrounded by a miriad of whites, blues, greens and reds, Anamika steps out in a flowing white kaftan dress herself.
