India is known for some of the world’s tallest statues, many built in recent years. They represent India's close emotional ties with religion and history and are landmarks to our cultural pride.
Located in Kevadia, Gujarat, the impressive Statue of Unity is the world's tallest statue at 182 m. Inaugurated in 2018, it honours Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, India's first deputy prime minister. The statue is designed by Indian sculptor Ram V Sutar.
Also known as Vishwas Swaroopam, a murti of Lord Shiva is in Nathdwara, Rajasthan. Standing at 112.4 m. Completed in 2022, the statue was sculpted by Murtikar Naresh Kumawat.
Situated in Hyderabad, Telangana, the Statue of Equality is 65.8 m high and is dedicated to the 11th-century Bhakti saint Sri Ramanujacharya, who advocated for equality and social justice. Built in 2022, it is made of panchaloha-- a combination of gold, silver, copper, brass, and zinc.
This 62.78 m-statue in Vijayawada honours Dr B R Ambedkar, the principal architect of the Indian Constitution and a champion of social justice and, of course, equality. It was unveiled in 2024.
