Was Ash's skin whitened on her latest magazine cover?

Fashion bible Elle has been caught in a race row after reportedly whitening the skin of Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan on its cover.

Readers reacted with anger after it was suggested that the fashion magazine might have digitally 'bleached' the complexion of the former Miss World.

The 37-year-old, who has also starred in Bride & Prejudice and The Pink Panther 2, appears on the cover of this month's Indian edition of the magazine.

However, her skin appears to be several shades lighter than her normal colour.

Inside the magazine, she is again pictured in a series of shots, all showing her with pale skin, reports the Daily Mail.

Fans have been posting angry comments online about the latest cover, with one saying: "It's annoying because it seems like lighter skin is always in fashion as if darker skin is ­something to be frowned upon."

They don't call her a fashion diva for nothing -- a Victoria Beckham bag costing 1,700 pounds sold out in just an hour after appearing on the net-a-porter.com website yesterday.

A crocodile-skin bag with chain handle that costs 8,950 pounds followed right after.

Posh Spice's handbag designs start at 1,195 pounds, while some command prices of up to 18,000 pounds -- the complete collection will be available from February next year.

She presented her collection at New York Fashion Week in September and revealed that she had hubby David Beckham in mind while designing it.

"I had to put something in David could use. You can take this on the plane and throw your tracksuit in there -- it really does fit everything," the Daily Mail quoted her as saying.

Top handbag designer Katie Hillier was employed as a consultant to help Victoria design the bags.

"This collection is not a collaboration -- as with all her ranges, Victoria has sought the best consultants to ensure the highest level of quality at manufacture for her designs," said a spokeswoman.

Actress Megan Fox has become the new face of Giorgio Armani's 'Eyes to Kill Excess' mascara.

Fox, 24, is seen in a short film for the cosmetics branch sporting a natural, barefaced look, contrasted with a smoky-eyed, red carpet ready glamour look, the Telegraph reported.

The actress, who is married to actor Brian Austin Green, 37, has been modelling Armani's Prive creations, the label's haute couture division, on the red carpet.

The 'Eyes to Kill Excess' is only available at Selfridges, priced at 23 pounds.

Texan supermodel Jerry Hall has revealed how her first and only experience with drugs inspired her to take up modelling.

In an interview with US Harper's Bazaar magazine, Hall, 54, said that taking LSD as a teenager gave her the motivation to exploit her good looks.

"A boy gave me a quarter of a tab. I didn't know what it was!" the Telegraph quoted her as recalling the incident that took place at a party in high school.

"I actually had never taken drugs and was very nervous. And I never did take drugs (afterward) ever, ever."

"But I locked myself in the bathroom and spent the whole night staring in the mirror, going, 'Oh, my God'. All of a sudden, I thought, Wow!" she revealed.

Then a few weeks before her 17th birthday she decided to take the plunge and flew to Paris."I sort of had a turning thing. One of those moments where you decide you're going to do something really wild. And I did it," she added.

The eldest daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore, Rumer Willis, has been chosen as spokesmodel for fashion house Badgley Mischka.

The 22-year-old will pose for the spring ad campaigns for the high-end Badgley Mischka collection, the contemporary Mark & James label, footwear, handbags and swimwear, said parent company Iconix Brand Group.

Willis, who is already known for an edgy style, was described as "glamorous, youthful and fun" by designers Mark Badgley and James Mischka, reports the New York Post.

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Sharon Stone and Eva Longoria have been previous models for the celebrity-heavy brand.

Catwalk queen Kate Moss is considering setting up a modelling school.

The supermodel is planning to take aspiring Mossites under her wing and teach them how to look good in a snap.

"I think I could definitely open a modelling school," the Sun quoted her as saying.

"Kate's Modelling School? Moss's Models? Put Moss's Models down! You need to see it as a skill. I mean, you can be the most intelligent person in the world, but it won't make you a good teacher."

"It honestly can be very humiliating. It's not just like, 'Hold your left leg in your hand'. I guess you need to have an eye for art," the Croydon hottie told Company magazine.

Women often suffer when their stilettos slip off at the most inconvenient moments, causing embarrassment or injury. But now there is a solution.

Bridalwear designer Paul Milana has developed a new product that can help even the highest of heels stay on and keep the wearer stumble-free.

St-walkers -- pronounced street walkers -- are elasticated suspenders that attach around the heel of the shoe and around the wearer's ankle, making the shoe more secure.

They are decorated with Swarovski crystals, black bows or 'high-visibility' jewels.

Milana, 45, had the idea after his clients and female friends kept complaining about the problem.

"I'd been thinking about what I term the 'Cinderella Syndrome', which women often suffer when their stilettos slip off at the most inconvenient moments -- usually when they're in a rush," the Daily Mail quoted Milana, from Brighton, as saying.

"I also thought about all the health issues of ill-fitting shoes, and wanted to try to find a solution."

"It's something they can keep in their handbags and then easily slip on to their heels -- it even means they can run for a bus," Milana added.

Milana tested 100 types of elastic to find one that was strong enough but wouldn't leave a mark around the ankle.

He said: "I trialled them for about two years on my friends and bridal clients. The inspiration came from a strap that connects from a ski to the user's boot to ensure the ski doesn't get lost in heavy snow after a fall."

St-walkers are available to buy on eBay for 4.95 pounds plus 1.20 pounds postage.
