Vikram Phadnis showed off his Indian line at the Rajasthan Fashion Week in Jaipur.
Mumbai-based fashion designer Vikram Phadnis showcased Indian outfits and accessories for women and men at the Rajasthan Fashion Week.
The collection was titled Recreation of Kali and featured traditional silhouettes in bright eye-catching colours, even though it reminded starkly of the Lakme Fashion Week line he showed last season.

The collection comprised stunning embroidery, tie-and-dye prints, bagru prints, sanganer prints as well as zari work.

Even though the line itself had a fair bit of bling, none of it came across as being garish. Shades of gold and mustard were teamed with contrasting shades such as ash gray in outfits such as this one.

Phadnis' line was aimed at the modern woman 'who is confident, bold and independent'. Thus, even the plain old sari got a quirky twist here.

Gota and mirror work were two of the common threads in this bright line up that clearly wasn't someone who appreciates light embroidery and soft shades.

Even though the fabrics in the collection comprised cotton and linen among others, the line itself wasn't remotely for the summers, evidently been targeted at the winter wedding season.

We didn't mind this sari so much had it not been for that rather odd belt (though we quite liked it in one of the other outfits) that rather unsuccessfully attempts to divide the body.

Phadnis added a dash of glamour to the traditional ghagra-choli featuring gota embroidery and combining contrasting colours.

In the recent past anarkalis have been steadily making their presence on the runway felt. Vikram Phadnis features one of his own designs in the growing clamour.
