Some of the star attractions at the 2013 International Motorcycle Exhibition

International Motorcycle Exhibition aka EICMA (Milan Motorcycle Show) is the biggest platform to promote everything related to two-wheelers, be it motorcycles, bicycles, mopeds, scooters and tricycles, including the accessories and parts. Apart from these, the economic, technical or regulatory problems faced by the sector, is also studied and solved during the exhibition.

Currently, 170 manufacturers are members of EICMA. The 2013 EICMA, the 42nd installment of the showm, witnessed showcasing of some of the most amazing products. Take a look at these hot bikes.

Caterham Motorcycle Segment

The Caterham group has launched its motorcycle division with three new products, the Brutus 750, Classic E-bike and Carbon E-bike at the 2013 EICMA.

Recently, Tony Fernandes, the Malaysian Formula One team owner brought Caterham and the Caterham bikes have been introduced as an extension strategy of the group.

The Brutus 750 is also known as 'SUV of motorcycles'. It has automatic transmission and can operate as an off-road machine, street bike and a snowmobile, making it the first two-wheel SUV.

The Classic E-Bike offers a retro style design, taking the rider back to the golden age of British motorcycling.

The Carbon E-Bike's styling is inspired by the F1 technology. It is a premium bike which includes exclusive F1 materials and inputs.

New Kawasaki Z1000 and Z1000SX

The Japanese automaker Kawasaki has revealed the new model of its renowned product Z1000 and a new version called Z1000 SX.

'Sugomi Philisophy', first used in the Z800 has inspired the design of these bikes as well.

The Ride by Wire throttle technology used by this bike maximises the power of its engine by restricting its working at 70 per cent and 80 per cent power modes.

The maximum power churned out by the engine is 142 bhp at 10000 rpm along with a maximum torque output of 111 Nm at 7,300 rpm. A special feature of the Kawasaki Z1000 is the KTC (Kawasaki Traction Control) system.

An adjustable ABS system assists the dual front and rear disc brakes of the bike and there is an electronically controlled suspension system. The elegant headlight cowl, muscular fuel tank and the stylish LED instrument cluster gives it a unique look.

Ducati 1200S

The Italian automaker Ducati has introduced four new models at EICMA.

One of them is the Ducati 1200 and its version 1200S. It is equipped with 1198 Testastretta 11-degree DS engine.

Along with this, it is also equipped with some advanced features such as three level ABS, three riding modes and eight level traction control. The power produced by the engine is 145 hp.

Yamaha Tricity

The first three-wheeled scooter, known as Tricity has been unveiled by the Japanese automaker Yamaha at EICMA.

This multi-wheel scooter has two wheels at the front and at the rear there is a single wheel, which makes it unique.

This 150 kg scooter is equipped with a 125 cc, 4 stroke, liquid cooled engine which provides best results in terms of performance and running costs. It is expected that the price of this scooter will be kept below Euro 4,000.

BMW S1000R

The BMW S1000R, the new sports bike by the German auto giant has been unveiled at the EICMA. This new sport bike by BMW is based on the super sport bike S1000 RR.

It is powered by a 999cc inline four cylinder engine which can churn out a maximum power output of 160 bhp at 11000 rpm along with a maximum torque output of 112 Nm at 9250 rpm.

Various features like the Automatic Stability Control (ASC), Race ABS, dynamic suspensions and dual riding modes make the bike unique. There are certain optional features offered with the bike which include Rain and Road modes with the Pro mode and its Dynamic Pro mappings.

The weight of the bike is 207 kg because of the removal of fairing from the bike.

Yamaha MT-07

The Japanese automaker Yamaha has unveiled its new MT series bike at the EICMA, MT-07.

The inspiration for this new entrant has come from the already existing MT-09, however various cosmetic and mechanical changes have been made. Using the Yamaha's crossplane philosophy, the bike is equipped with a 689cc inline 2-cylinder engine which increases the efficiency of the bike.

The MT-07 bike can offer a maximum power output of 73.8 bhp at 9,000 rpm along with a maximum torque output of 68 Nm at 6,500 rpm. The fuel economy of this bike is also good. The angular mirrors, LED taillamp, lightweight cast aluminium 10-spoke wheels, exhaust pipes and Z-shaped air intake scoops give it a stylish look.
