Doesn't it feel good if some places are left at their natural best?
Do you have to leave your mark at every place, every time you visit it?
At most places with natural beauty and landscape, there is a traffic jam every Sunday. Then comes dirt and garbage, especially plastic and waste that tourists carry along.
While talking about protecting India's natural spaces with an expert, I was reminded how several businesses in Amboli were thriving because of nature tourism.
I personally feel that the locals should take the lead and do something about it.
An important step would be to have a strict ban on alcohol in all ghat areas. This way, we can reduce at least part of the problem. The next would be waste management.
The onus is on us. My advice to Indian tourists is: Be responsible.
