When a disaster strikes, like an earthquake, floods, fire, riots you should know beforehand what you MUST pack.
Battery-Powered Flashlight
To protect your phone battery, always have a battery-powered flashlight on hand, because when disaster strikes, the electricity usually goes too.
To listen to updates pack a battery-powered radio. It is one of the best communication tools if power goes and cell phones die.
Nothing could be more useful than a sleeping bag, blankets, even a tent.
Carry all the cash you have available. Also don't forget various keys, for your car, bank lockers etc.
Packing extra batteries, power banks, hard drives, cell phones, laptops and chargers are, of course, very important.
On your list must be plenty of bottles of mineral water and various non-perishable food items like biscuits, snacks, muesli, crackers, protein bars, juice tetrapaks, long-life milk. Food for your pets too.
A whistle is a must-have if you need to signal for help.
Take along a map marked with at least two evacuation routes marked out of your neighbourhood.
Basic first-aid, medicines, sanitation supplies, spare glasses.
A few changes of clothing, including a long-sleeved cotton shirt, pants, a sweater/coat and appropriate footwear.
Pack originals/copies of driver's licenses, passports, residency papers, health insurance cards, birth certificates, house documents or anything else that you wouldn't want gone forever. Jewellery as well.
Pack diapers, formula, bottles for your babies. Litter, food, medication, leashes, harnesses, travel crates for your pets.
You must pack a few family pics of grandparents and old family pics, baby/childhood photos -- as much as you can take. You won't get them back again. Ideally have as many photos digitally stored as well beforehand.
