Ace your next interview! Here are seven tips to help you radiate confidence and impress your interviewer.
Do research on the company you are applying to and practice common interview questions. Keep your resume upto date. This will boost your confidence and, in turn, make you feel like you have control over the whole interview situation.
Dress crisply and professionally, arrive before time, and greet the interviewer with a firm handshake and a memorable smile.
Sit up straight, uncross your arms, and maintain posture. Don’t cross your legs, or lean on the table.
Have a clear diction. Be careful about your pronunciation. Speak neither too fast nor too slow, at a moderate pace. Avoid filler words like 'um' or 'ah' or repeating words like 'you know'.
When talking and listening to the interviewer always look him or her in the eye. It helps to show that you are paying attention, that you are interested and you are confident.
Show that you are eager to work in the company and a particular position. Always ask questions, and demonstrate that you’ve done your homework.
At the end, say thank you to the interviewer, restate the passion for the position you are applying for and then leave with a smile on your face. This will leave a lasting impression with the interviewer. Once the interview is over, don't badger the interviewer with questions, later on email, on whether you were selected or attempt to add him/her to your social media contacts -- those are strict no-nos.
