Think twice before sitting on the toilet with your phone!
'Prolonged sitting, especially in the bathroom, which can happen if you get very absorbed in your smartphone, can up your risk of hemorrhoids. There’s no concrete research yet (although a clinical trial is in the works), but still, experts are concerned', says Healthline.
All bathrooms have bacteria mainly E coli and Salmonella. Keeping your phone out in the washroom can transfer these pathogens onto your device, increasing the risk of infections, and can also lead to urinary tract infections, according to studies at the National Instutes of Health.
Looking at your phone on the toilet distracts you from your main business at hand, which is passing a bowel movement and that can cause constipation, states WebMD.
Too much time spent looking down at your phone, using an inappropriate posture, in the bathroom can strain your neck muscles and cause tightness and pain in shoulders, says WebMD.
Don't take stress into the bathroom. A phone on the toilet can disturb a necessary break. Instead of allowing your brain to rest, you may find yourself scrolling through emails or social media, which can lead to increased stress levels.
