Dance is a fun doorway to improving your physical, mental and emotional health, Choreographer Ashley Lobo tells Hitesh Harisinghani/Rediff.com.
Dance, believes popular choreographer Ashley Lobo, can gift you a happy heart and a healthy body.
He calls dance a fun doorway to physical, mental and emotional health.
His message was particularly pertinent World Heart Day, an initiative by the World Heart Federation to spread awareness about cardiovascular diseases, including heart disease and stroke.
Research has connected cardiovascular diseases to a sedentary, unhealthy lifestyle, imbalanced diet and excessive use of tobacco and alcohol.
"I would encourage everyone to dance because dance is perfect for the heart," says the dancer-choreographer.
Age is just a number when it comes to dancing, feels Ashley.
"Whether you're five or 95, once the music plays, the body just starts to move and you get transported to another world where you can live in that alternate reality.
"It's a great way to get away and be with yourself."
Talking about fitness in these difficult times, he says, "The coronavirus has opened our eyes about the need to stay healthy because just a simple flu can take you down.
"I think it's very important to stay healthy during this time and dance is a great way to do it."
