Nobel Laureate, activist and author Malala Yousafzai tied the knot with Asser Malik in an intimate ceremony held in Birmingham on Tuesday, November 9.

Sharing the news on Twitter, Malala wrote: 'Today marks a precious day in my life. Asser and I tied the knot to be partners for life. We celebrated a small nikkah ceremony at home in Birmingham with our families. Please send us your prayers. We are excited to walk together for the journey ahead.'

Asser is general manager at Pakistan Cricket Board's High Performance Centre and co-founder of LMS Pakistan, an amateur cricket league. He shared the news on Instagram with a heart emoji.

Malala's father Ziauddin Yousafzai took to Twitter to congratulate the couple.

'It is beyond words. Toor Pekai and I are overwhelmed with joy and gratitude. Alhamdulillah,' Ziauddin wrote in his post.

In the photographs clicked by award-winning photographer Malin Fezehai, Malala is seen wearing a silk salwar kameez with golden zari work.

The new bride kept her wedding look minimal with natural makeup, long earrings, a maang tikka and bangles. There is henna on her hands.

Asser looked dapper in a suit and tie that matched Malala's outfit. The couple posed with family and friends at the wedding.
