NIMHANS opens admissions to nursing, radiography courses

What: The National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS) invites applications on prescribed form for admission to the following courses for the academic year 2010-11.

  • BSc in Nursing
  • BSc in Radiography
  • BSc in Anaesthesia Technology

BSc in Nursing (4 years)
Minimum qualification for admission:
(i) Higher secondary school certificate examination (12-year course) OR

(ii) Senior school certificate examination, pre-degree examination (10+2) OR

(iii) An equivalent with 12 years of schooling from a recognised board or university

(With physics, chemistry, biology and English with a minimum of 50 per cent aggregate)

BSc in Radiography (3 years)
Minimum qualification for admission:
(i) Pre-university course OR

(ii) Job-oriented diploma course from a recognised board with diagnostic radiography as vocational subject or equivalent OR

(iii) An equivalent with 12 years of schooling from a recognised board

(With physics, chemistry, mathematics, biology and English)

BSc in Anaesthesia Technology (3 years)
Minimum qualification for admission:

Pass in two-year pre-university course examination or equivalent with a science group having secured an aggregate of 50 per cent in science subjects.

Guidelines:
Candidates should bring the results of their qualifying examination as on the date of entrance test ie, June 27, 2010.

Instructions:

  • Application form for all the courses are available online at the NIMHANS website www.nimhans.kar.nic.in. The applications have to be filled online and submitted online. Printout of the application abstract with the latest passport-size photograph affixed (in the column provided) along with the demand draft drawn in favour of 'The Director, NIMHANS, Bangalore 560 029' and relevant enclosures should be sent to the Directorat the address below by superscribing the name of the course(s) applied for on the envelope (without fail).
  • The application fee is Rs 1000 per course for general candidates and Rs 750 per course for SC/ST candidates.
  • Foreign nationals are required to submit their applications through the diplomatic channel (through the Ministry of External Affairs). They shall also appear for the common entrance test along with other candidates.
  • Sponsored candidates should submit their application through proper channels and they should also appear for the common entrance test. The candidates should produce the sponsorship certificate in the prescribed format.
  • The age of candidates should be between minimum of 17 years and maximum of 25 years as on 02.08.2010.

Important dates:

  • Application is available online from: May 10, 2010
  • Application is available online upto:  May 20, 2010
  • Last date for receipt of application abstract by post/courier:  May 25, 2010
  • Entrance test will be held in Bangalore: June 27, 2010
