Who doesn't like chocolate rolls drenched in chocolate sauce and stuffed with whip cream?

Here's the yummy recipe:

How to make Swiss Chocolate Rolls

Ingredients

Servings: 8

For the cake

  • 1 1/2 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk powder
  • 3/4 cup white butter
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • A pinch of baking soda
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder

For frosting

  • 6 tbsp butter
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 drops vanilla essence
  • 1/2 cup of milk
  • 3/4 cup choco chips

For assembly and serving

  • 200 gm whipped, sweetened cream
  • 1 cup chocolate sauce (see the note below)

Method

To make the cake

  • To make the chocolate cake, mix in all the cake ingredients together.
If the dough is too thick, add an additional 1/4 cup milk.
  • Bake it in a preheated oven in an 8-inch cake pan at 180 degrees C for 35 minutes.
Take out of the oven and cool

To make the frosting

  • Warm the milk over low heat and add the chocolate chips.
Once the chipst melt, take off heat and mix well.
  • Add in the sugar, cocoa powder, vanilla, butter.
Beat thoroughly till it loses its gloss and let cool.
    Keep aside.

Assembly

  • Crush the cooled baked cake, entirely thoroughly.
And then add the chocolate frosting in it and mix till the consistency is like a chapati dough.
  • On a large rectangle of butter paper, spread the cake dough to cover the paper.
The thickness has to be consistent, otherwise the roll will crack.
  • Spread whipped cream on it.
Roll it inwards very slowly, carefully discarding the paper as you roll.
    Wrap in foil.
  • Refrigerate it for 15 minutes at least, ideally slightly longer.
  • Take the refrigerated cake out and pour dark chocolate sauce over it.
    Wrap up.
  • Refrigerate for half an hour.
  • Take out of fridge and cut into circular shapes.
    Serve.

Ria's Note: For the chocolate sauce, either buy a readymade sauce. Hershey's will do fine.

To make your own: Beat 6 tbsp of butter and add 1/2 cup cocoa powder and add 3/4 cup sugar to it. Beat for five minutes and add 1/2 tsp vanilla essence. Meanwhile warm 1 cup milk over low heat and add 3/4 cup of choco chips. Stir until all the choco chips have melted. Add this mixture to the butter-cocoa-sugar-vanilla mixture and cool.
