Disha Patani is one of the hottest, fittest and most fashionable young actresses we have today.

But if you ask her about it, she clearly denies the tag 'fashion icon'.

"I am a little tomboyish," she clarifies to Rediff.com Contributor PS Aaryan Khanna.

"When I was younger, I used to have army cut hair and sort of look like a boy...I like to wear basketball shorts, loose hoodies and t-shirts," the 29 year old shares, discussing her idea of fashion, her love for fitness and more.

You are quite a fashion icon. How would you describe your personal style?

I don't think I am a fashion icon (laughs).

I have no idea about fashion. I generally wear what I like.

Style, for me, is very personal. I feel everyone has their own individual style.

I like to be comfortable.

No matter what I am wearing, I have to be comfortable in it. That is my first thing.

I am a little tomboyish.

When I was younger, I was a complete tomboy sporting little shorts and I used to have army cut hair. I used to sort of look like a boy. So that personality is still there in me.

What are you most comfortable in?

I wear shorts and track pants all the time. So, when I am dressing up, I like to wear basketball shorts, loose hoodies and t-shirts.

I try to mix and match different things.

What have been some of your biggest learnings from the lockdown?

I feel I am very impatient as a person.

I realised you cannot sometimes do much and have to leave it to God and to destiny. That's how it goes.

I think we all have learnt to be a little more human. To help people in need. Not just humans, there are a lot of animals who require a lot of help.

Did you learn any new skills?

Skills-wise, I have been trying to learn to play the drums. I have always wanted to learn that, but I never got the opportunity. So, I started doing that and it feels kind of good.

How do you stay so fit?

I work out. I go to the gym. As simple as that.

Luckily the things that I want to learn in life, are also the ones that help me stay fit.

I like doing enemy training, gymnastics. I really can't do it much, but I am doing basics and trying to learn.

Also, I love to dance. I am a very active person.

I like to be physically active all the time. I don't like to just sit around. I cannot be sitting in one place for very long. (I guess) it helps me keep myself a bit more healthy.

Do you follow a strict diet?

Eating is another thing that helps me stay fit.

After I turned 24, I realised that it is very important to eat healthy for your overall health.

No matter how much exercise you do from the outside, if you are not feeding your body what is required, then the desired result would never come.

So how did you stay fit during the lockdown?

I was fortunate enough to have a treadmill at my place. So I was doing my cardio on my treadmill at home.

I started doing some online classes for dance. Also, I have a very fit home so I'm very fortunate to have something like that.

So yeah, we're all kind of managing with all these little things.

The one thing you dislike most.

I don't like going to spas and getting facials done. That is just the kind of person that I am.

You seem to love travelling. What's your favourite travel destination?

Japan, for sure.
