Overseas education consultant NNS Chandra shares advice on how to pick the right international education.

In an online chat with readers every Friday, overseas education consultant NNS Chandra offers advice on how to pick the right course and career abroad.

For those who missed the chat on December 11, here's the unedited transcript:

vinodadsule: I am BCom, I have completed MBA in fianance i want to do international taxation pl guide.

NNS Chandra: Looking at a masters would be interesting too. Great programmes in NYU to top schools.

Challenging to secure admission but can build a solid career around a International taxation post grad. degree.

vinodadsule: kindly suggest me any institution from Europe for online course for international taxation and is that course affordable for me.

NNS Chandra: Two things you can do - either get back to campus and do an academic course or get engaged with a taxation professional organisation and move towards a professional accreditation or designation/certification.

Ramesh Upadhyay: My daughter is a Chartered Accountant - ICAI and Diploma in International Finance Reporting Standard - ACCA.

What are enhance courses available worldwide for her to take up along with part time job.

NNS Chandra: Hi Ramesh - Please ask her to consider international taxation.

With the globalised business on the full go, there are challenges to recruit qualified consultants with background in CA and understand international tax practice.

Narendra: My son is in final year of MSc Biotechnology. He wishes to apply for PHd in Biotechnology either in India or abroad.

Please guide whether to pursue in India or abroad. What are the better options in universities abroad.

NNS Chandra: Hi Narendra, Whether he does his PhD in India or the US, he must do several initial steps, right? Like SOP, RMT (Research Methodology Training), identifying broad topic of interest and study etc.

Regardless of where he is going to do the studies let him start his work. And start looking for a faculty/guide. Several options are available for him in North America and Europe.

suresh: [SKB] Hi sir I am mechanical engineer, currently working as design engineer.

Please guide me sir to study in product design and analysis in abroad and job in the same.

Kindly suggest me sir which programme, university, country is suitable for me in order to self compensation in financial also.Waiting for your valuable response sir.RegardsSuresh G K

NNS Chandra: Impressive work. Great choice of further studies. To guide you further and for being specific, I need additional data on your academic achievement so far, years of experience, your non academic activities etc, Suresh.

You can always email me and quote this conversation.

BALA: I am pursuing MSc -zoology (final) specialization in toxicology. please let me kmow future prospects

NNS Chandra: Hi Bala - Society of Toxicology revealed that toxicologists earned a average starting salary of under $50,000 a year.

Those with doctorates earned closer to $100,000 a year. Those are figures from few years back. Job prospects and career opportunities are plenty for pharmacology/toxicology grads.

Anurag Bhargava: Respected sir, I have done BTech in 2009 and wants to pursue PG in USA with scholarship.. what according to you is best for doing PG in USA..MS or MBA and in which stream according to job market of usa..

NNS Chandra: Hi Anurag, I would recommend MS route, if you are in for technical education. Jobs and scholarships are tilted more towards MS programmes. VISA regulations are getting tighter. If you email me your full data we can talk.

hitesh varu: My son will complete his 12th with PCM. What are the options for him to purse his engineering in canada and in America. give idea of expenditure also. Hitesh

NNS Chandra: I can recommend him several programs in USA/Canada. I need more data on his course, scores, activities etc.

Cost would depend on many factors, country, to university (private or public) location (cost in NY and LA is not comparable in Iowa State, right?)

But the rage of tuition living expenses etc can be from 36,000 to 55,000 per year in dollars

Venkateswaran G: Dear Sir,I had posted sometime back regarding my son's interest in doing UG Medicine in UK.

He had filled ou the UCAS application and he has got an interview from Nottingham University scheduled in mid January.

The format they follow is an MMI (Mini Multiple Interview) methodology.

Can you please suggest a training institute that shall train on such interview methodologies.

NNS Chandra: Congrats Venketeswaran. Please pass my appreciation to your son. Great work. I do remember our conversation early.

Couple of my students did go through some kind of MMI training in London.

I will try to find out and inform you, please email me quoting this conversation. I would be glad to help to locate a trainer.

One of my colleagues Prof Sheffield can give a basic prep guide on MMI and its cognitive connection. Please email me, I can connect.

Narendra: My son is in final year of M.Sc. Biotechnology. He wish to apply for Phd in Biotechnology either in India or abroad.

Please guide whether to pursue in India or abroad. What are the better options in Universities abroad.

NNS Chandra: Hi Narendra, Whether he does his PhD in India or US, he must do several initial steps, right?

Like SOP, RMT (Research Methodology Training), identifying broad topic of interest and study etc.

Regardless of where he is going to do the studies let him start his work. And start looking for a faculty/guide.

Several options are available for him in North America and Europe.

Indian research institutes are simply outstanding when it come to research in many areas.

Good funds, fellowships. RA positions are available - both in India and USA. Please email me. I will respond in detail.

dilip derek: My daughter wants to pursue her BSC HON Nursing from Birmingham City University please guide

NNS Chandra: Wonderful Dilip. I appreciate her interest and focus. I know and have students in Birmingham. Great place to live and study.

What stage is her application? How can I help? What exactly is she looking from me? Please ask her to email me with all data. Quote this conversation. I will respond in detail. NNS

sanjay gupta: my son is completing his graduation Bachelor in Management Sciences from Mumbai University and will be joining Deloitte.

He wants to pursue MS Finance or MBA from from USA. Please advice the colleges and which is a better program

NNS Chandra: Congrats Mr Gupta for your son's success. Let him settle down for a minute. Let him clear up and have a score on GMAT. Let him get involved in few activities outside his work.

Then have him to develop his SOP. That is the time he must write to me or someone and seriously start looking at colleges and courses.

In my opinion now it is too early. We only have limited data to prepare college list. NNS

sundaram sridhar: My son is doing third year BBA.,LL.B. He wants to do MBA in US. What is your advice ?

NNS Chandra: Hi Sridhar, That is the way to go, in my opinion.

Tell him to look for appropriate specialization with in the scope of his interest.

I would also ask him to select his schools carefully so that he can have several inputs on his core studies -- law. If he want to email me me I can guide him.

maulik joshi: Hi My daughter is appearing for SSC in March 2016. She want to opt for Science stream.

Her interests are in Computer Science and aeronautical Engineering. Which is the best place to pursue these two streams abroad. What is the scope in future.

NNS Chandra: Great Joshi, Good to hear your daughter's interest.

I would recommend Universities in North America. Some of them have got great space tech programs and are associated with organisations like NASA and European Space agency.

Enough opportunities to experience beyond class room studies.
