A beauty queen's journey to the Miss World crown is one that goes far beyond merely looking good or hitting the right note when answering questions.
Miss India World 2017 Manushi Chhillar -- who was crowned Miss World this weekend, bringing the crown back to India 17 years after Priyanka Chopra -- gave us a ring-side view of what that hectic but incredible journey entails.

Chhillar at the opening ceremony of Miss World 2017 on top of the Yellow Mountain or Huangshan, Fujian -- a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Chhillar's Miss World journey also took her to Wuzhizou island...
And Sanya, the city chosen to host the Miss World 2017 finale.
Chhillar loved it all. She wrote, 'I love to travel, though I love to be with my books, I have always been an outdoor person... This journey at Miss World has been amazing till now. Meeting so many young passionate girls, learning about their cultures, and most importantly exploring China, this will definitely be one of the most amazing experiences of my life.'

Chhillar, like all Miss World contestants, was also expected to understand and embrace the culture of the host country.
In preparation for her role as a Miss World, every contestant focuses a lot of energy on charitable endeavours.
Chhillar spent time rallying for causes involving children outside and attending events like the Charity Auction at Miss World 2017.

She also had to make the time to name the baby emperor penguins at Chimelong Ocean Kingdom in Zhuhai.
All this in addition to staying fit..

Attending rehearsals...
And of course, walking the ramp.
It is a journey impossible to carry on without camaraderie among the rivals.
Chhillar also drew inspiration from her predecessor -- Miss World 2016 Stephanie Del Valle of Puerto Rico...
And did everything just right to bring the Miss World crown back to India.
