Screen
1080 x 1920

The OnePlus 2 sports a 5.5-inch, not-too-bright, LCD display screen. The 1080 X 1920 resolution adds up to 401 ppi (pixels per inch) pixel density, a big disappointment because one expects 4k display from a so-called flagship.

The display, though, has good viewing angles, and smooth touch response. Interestingly, when placed on a flat surface, the touch was somewhat unresponsive on the handset we got for review. It has good colour reproduction and black renders nicely on the screen.

Camera
13MP

There is no change in the 13MP camera count but the snapper on OnePlus 2 gives an improved performance, armed as it is with lesser guided auto focus, optical image stabiliser and dual LED flash.

The f/2.0 lens offers shallow depth of field. The stock camera app though is very minimalistic; it was hard to find how to activate flash for normal shooting mode when Beauty, HDR or Clear Shot mode were on. The camera is good enough to shoot 4k and slow mo videos.

RAM
4GB

4GB LPDDR4 RAM is the maximum one can get in flagship devices today and OnePLus 2 is not a loser here. The LPDDR4 RAM gives faster speeds and lower power consumption.

This is ample RAM to maintain smooth multitasking. You can jump between multiple apps open in the background without any lag in performance.

Storage
64GB

While the 64 GB eMMC ROM and 4GB RAM variant costs Rs 25k, the 16GB ROM, 3GB RAM costs Rs 20k. One wonders if anybody will go for the 20k variant given the quality of hardware you get by paying just Rs 5000 more.

eMMC ROM is not just a storage chip but offers unique electronics that helps memory management and data transmission for multimedia devices.

Sadly, there is no external storage option for this 'flagship'. Those who would require extra storage can make use of USB OTG. In this memory-multiplying era OnePlus 2 does not lok like a future-proof phone with just two storage variants.

Processor
1.8 GHZ
The 810 Qualcomm Snapdragon is down-clocked to 1.8 GHZ (actual 2.0 GHZ) to overcome the heating issue. Adreno 430 GPU gives a solid performance for high end 3D gaming in combination with the 4GB RAM and processor.
Battery
3300mAh

While the 3300mAh Li-Po battery is not too big, it is non-removable. This lasts just for a day with heavy usage. As per the standards today, the OnePLus 2 does not even support fast charging or wireless charging.

It takes about two hours to fully charge a completely drained battery. The power adapter comes along with anti-Tangle Flat red wire with both c-type and USB reversible connecter.

Sound

A mono speaker is smartly placed at the base of the rim to make it look like stereo speakers.

The placement wasn't to our liking as it obstructed the sound while playing games or watching movies when the device is held horizontally.

Design

OnePlus 2's design is a big plus point. A sturdy rim made of aluminum and magnesium alloy gives it a premium feel. Though the metal rim heats up on heavy engagement, the temperature rise is not too hot to handle.

The rim of our review piece got hot while charging and downloading a one GB-plus file simultaneously.

Gorilla Glass 4 is fused to the body with no logo on its face to give it a complete glassy look.

An improved, sandstone-finish back panel looks stylish. What's more users have the option to replace them as per their styles.

The three step slide button for notification settings is quite handy to switch between three different notification profiles: All Notifications, Only Priority, and No Notification at all.

Sensors
The fingerprint sensor on OnePLus 2 is quite good and responsive; it also acts as a lock-unlock device option. Setting up fingerprint impressions was a breeze. The phone also comes with sensors like accelerometer, gyro, compass proximity, etc.
OS
The OnePlus 2 runs on OxygenOS built on Android 5.1. It's a vanilla experience with few enhancements like customising theme colour, gestures and customisable buttons. Using the OS was a smooth experience.
