Breathtaking South India

The beautiful locales of South India have always fascinated Bollywood filmmakers. Chaiya Chaiya -- the song from Dil Se is perhaps one of the best train songs ever shot, in the picturesque hill station of Ooty. Nishabd failed to turn any tricks at box office but the cinematographer of the film succeeded in catapulting Munnar to new heights on the tourist map.

Film: Dil Se

Chaiya Chaiya from Mani Ratnam's Dil Se was shot on the Nilgiri Mountain Railways train that runs between Mettupalayam and Ooty. This is a 46 km breathtaking journey that takes hair-pen bends across tea gardens, dark tunnels and narrow valleys of lush green vegetation.

Film: Nishabd

The Seven Mally bungalow is set atop a hill surrounded by vast swathes of the tea gardens, and looks like a perfect escape from the outside world. This villa is where Amitabh Bachchan stayed during the shooting of the movie. It is located amidst the tea plantations, four km away from Munnar city centre.
