No better place to find romance

According to legend, Goddess Parvathi was born as a daughter to the Pandya King in answer to his prayers for a child. Shiva came down to Madurai as Sundareshwar to marry her. They are said to have reigned here for many years before leaving for the heavens.

You will see quite a few couples in the museum complex sitting there for hours and no one objects.
