Limitations of GPS phones

July 16, 2008

Just as cameras on phones are not as good as standalone digital cameras, GPS phones have ome limitations too. Sometimes the initial tracking after you switch on the GPS takes several minutes. If you live in an area with lots of tall buildings GPS tracking may not work too well.

Also GPS is quite power-hungry and may deplete your battery if you use it for too long. Despite these limitations, GPS capabilities on phones are probably good enough for the average user and are likely to get better and less expensive in the next few years.
