Paro, Bhutan

This one might leave your partner speechless! And Indian citizens don't need a visa to visit the Land of the Dragon. Permits are available both at the border town of Phuntsholing or at Paro if you prefer to fly in from Kolkata or Kathmandu.

The view from the aircraft, if you're flying from Kathmandu and descending into the Paro valley, are spectacular and the once in a lifetime experience is something you will remember for years to come!

Airfare for Rs 599 and less!

Located in a valley surrounded by the Himalayas, Bhutan is paradise with breathtaking views of the Himalayas and golden fields bordered by hills.

Sleepy Paro has one main road down the centre of town where you can go up and down the road for leisurely walks.

Enjoy the lovely sights of this laidback town. Even the shopkeepers don't bother you when you step in to browse.

Tuck into some delicious aloo dum and roti at a local restaurant. It is quite easy to slip into the slow pace of life in this pretty Himalayan kingdom.

The Taktshang monastery (or gomba) is a must-see. Perched on a 900 metre cliff, it takes a couple of hours to hike up to the monastery. Once you are there savour the moment and enjoy the peace on the mountain top where the only sound you hear is of the colourful prayer flags fluttering in the wind.

You can walk around town and across to Paro Dzong, drive up to the museum, enjoy the beauty of the Kichu Lhakang or just laze around in your hotel.

Whatever you choose to do -- one thing is for sure -- the memories of your visit to Paro will remain etched in your mind forever!
