Matheran, a walk with Nature

Clouds enveloped the town, which is situated 800 metres above sea level. Matheran's most attractive feature: it is a vehicle free hill station.

All cars, jeeps, scooters, motorcycles and trucks are kept out of the town and must park at Dasturi. From Dasturi you can do the 2.5 km journey into Matheran town by horse, hand-pulled rickshaw or on foot.

Hence Matheran is free from pollution and traffic snarls that are slowly becoming a common feature at most other hill stations.
