Vikram Phadnis strikes gold with east-west confluence
next
Vikram Phadnis presented a captivating, iconic collection on the first day of Lakme Fashion Week. He broke barriers and shattered genres with a spring-summer line grounded in Indian fashion fundamentals, a first for Bollywood's favourite designer.

While today's other shows featured thumping bass and haughty models, Vikram experimented and struck gold.

The show began with the sounds of nature: gentle twittering of birds, the harmonic songs of crickets and the soft pitter-patter of rain drops falling in a tropical forest. It culminated with the majestic Gayatri mantra, which gave the presentation a decidedly spiritual flavour.

The models slowly glided up and down the runway in ethereal fashion, giving the audience the time necessary to process the intricacies of each creation.
