Introductions time?

It's essential to give your full name to someone you're meeting for the first time.

When shaking hands, ensure the palms meet. Limp hand shakes and over-enthusiastic squeezing of the other person's hand are both unacceptable. Don't dig either your nails or finger rings into the other person's hand.

When introducing people, the rules of social behaviour dictate that you introduce the younger person to the older, the junior to the senior and the woman to the man. For example, Hi Meena (woman), meet Rajeev (man).

Chhaya's tip: A handshake should be warm and reassuring and is best coupled with a smile and sufficient eye contact. Eye contact is essential for it helps create a vibe of trust and confidence.
