Find yourself a chair and we'll get right down to sitting.

Sitting down is an art by itself. It includes first perching oneself at the edge of the seat, then sliding back into the seat, folding one's ankles and cupping one's hands neatly.

When dressed gracefully in a sari, salwar-kameez or skirt, folding your ankles over each other is the appropriate thing to do. When dressed in pants, crossing the knees is considered acceptable.

Cupping your hands and letting them neatly rest in your lap is perfect for showing off your well-painted nails.

Your tummy must remain tucked in while sitting as well.

Chhaya's tip: If nail biting or brittle nails is your predicament, use false nails.

These are easily available at most beauty stores and give you that added touch of elegance. Otherwise, just keep your nails well manicured.
