Indian cinema was in the limelight at international film festivals.

Rituparno Ghosh's Chokher Bali was recognised at Cannes, Locarno and Venice. The Marrakech film festival held a retrospective of Amitabh Bachchan's movies and honoured the superstar. Mani Ratnam's Kannathil Mutthamittal travelled pretty much all over the world, including the Asian American Film Festival, New York, and the International Film Festival of Los Angeles. Aparna Sen's Mr & Mrs Iyer, Nagesh Kukunoor's 3 Deewarein and Buddhadeb Dasgupta's The Tale Of A Naughty Girl are other films that have 'been around the world' this year.

What's more, Karan Johar's Kal Ho Naa Ho was accepted at the prestigious Berlin Film Festival.
